FAQ – Roof Top

It depends on the capacity of the solar power plant. For example, if we are installing 100 KW solar Power Plant, expected date of plant commissioning is 30 days from the date of commencement of work.

If your roof is not having any shade from adjacent buildings, trees etc. and its structure is not delicate, then your roof is suitable for installation of solar plant.

There is no limit if the roof is GI Sheet.

There is no limit if the roof is RCC.

There will be a limit for a period of 10 years for Asbestos sheet.

No permissions are required if you are installing an off-grid solar PV system. But in case you wish to integrate your solar system with the grid to avail net metering option, certain permissions are required to be taken from the respective DISCOM and the state government

Net Metering is a system that allows individuals and businesses generating their own electricity to deliver the unused energy back to the local power grid and get credited back for the retail price.

When more electricity is produced by the system than being used, it causes the electric meter to spin backwards. At the end of the month, the customer is billed for the difference or the ‘net’ amount of electricity used over a month’s time. This arrangement is called net metering.

  • It is advisable to install an energy monitoring system along with your solar plant that will allow you to compare the actual with the estimated performance on daily, monthly and annual basis.
  • We, at MAS solar installing the solar power plant along with monitoring systems & we will be providing the monitoring report to the customer regularly
Following factors should be kept in mind:-
    • Location and layout of the solar plant
    • Roof Orientation and shade area
    • Quality of equipment
    • Design of the solar plant.
    • Maintenance of the plant.
    • solar power not working at night

Does rain affect the performance of solar plant

The electricity generation of the plant suffers during rainy and cloudy days especially during the monsoon season, but the generation never drops to zero. The loss of generation during monsoon and other rains is already adjusted in the 1.3 to 1.5 Lakhs unit/100kWp/annum generation number.
Solar Power is an intermittent source of energy depending on irradiation, the temperature of the region and a lot of other environmental factors. Hence, a 100 kW plant won’t produce 100 kW power. We can increase the power to 100 KW by increasing the panel capacity to 20% of the inverter capacity.
No, solar energy is integrated into the LT panel of consumer premises, wherein DG, Grid or other generator sources would be feeding power as of now. When solar energy is injected, the equipment is unaware of the source from which power is feeding in. Hence it is not possible to segregate the loads on basis of the power source.
No, Solar Power and Diesel Generator cannot work in parallel
Technically yes, a solar plant can meet your entire power requirement if it is backed by battery energy storage system (BESS). But practically, for commercial and industrial users where the power requirement is higher, it would be recommended to use solar in sync with the grid. When in sync, priority is automatically given to the solar power to be consumed first.
The Solar plant will generate electricity only during the Sunny hours, typically between 6 A.M. to 6 P.M and will not generate any electricity during the night.
  • Breakable or any damage due to natural disasters or mechanical damage does not cover in AMC
  • shifting of the system or complaint raised without any technical issue will be Chargeable

Annual maintenance contract will be provided by MAS Solar Systems (4 visits per year)

AMC for 120 KW Solar Roof Top Power Plant Rs.1, 50,000 (approx).

Below are the approximate costs for a 120 KW set up:

Rs. 50 to 55 lacs for larger commercial & industrial sector.

Rooftop power plant required area are,
  1. GI (Galvalume sheet) – 65 sq.ft / Per KW
  2. Asbestos (Cement sheet) – 75 sq.ft / Per KW
  3. RCC (Cement concrete) – 100 sq. / Per KW

PV Capacity *hrs*CUF*Days

EXAMPLE :

100KW * 24hrs * 21% * 31days = 15624 Units

Networking charges :

15624 Units * 1.48 * 100% = Rs.23124

GST on network charges = 18% CGST 9% and SGST 9%

=23124 * 18% = Rs.4162

=23124 + 4162 =Rs.2728

Ground Mounted cost will be high when compared to roof top since it involves module mounting structures.
Solar panels will be mounted on high-quality aluminum structures or GI- C Purlin Structure, which will be fixed onto the roof sheets.
Yes, if the roof sheets belong to the standing seam segment, then solar panels can be installed without penetrating the roof. If not, then penetration is necessary and precautions are taken to prevent leakage. Installation on RCC roofs does not require any penetration.

FAQ – Ground Mounted (MW)

Biggest concern is the huge electricity bills for the industries.

The power tariff would be hiked every year based on inflation for all the consumer categories.

Industrial Solar modules can be used for both On-Grid and Off-Grid Solar systems making it lucrative for Industries to use solar power usable at night also.

Commercial, industrial, and domestic consumers make up the three main types of electricity users in India.

The industrial sector’s peak-hour pricing may increase further.

Therefore, using industrial solar modules is the best option to reduce electricity bills in a long run.

Industrial companies with captive ‘industrial solar power systems also get to avail of tax benefits by way of depreciation, capital subsidies and other incentives as applicable. Every sector, including hospitals, technology firms, consultants, government agencies, non-profit groups, industrial facilities, and the consumer packaged products industry, are working cooperatively to maximize its socially and environmentally friendly solution by switching to solar power.

Maintaining a solar park is essential to get the sufficient energy from the solar modules. At, MAS solar system, we have highly qualified experienced staff who take care of complete solar operation, installation, erection, commissioning and maintenance of solar power systems
One MW is equal to one million watts. If you divide this one million watts by 540 watts per panel, we are left with needing 1852 solar panels to produce one MW of power.

A 1-megawatt solar power plant can generate 4,000 units per day on average. So, therefore, it generates 1, 20, 000 units per month and 14, 40,000 units per year.

One megawatt (MW) = 1,000 kilowatts = 1,000,000 watts.

The approximate cost needed for the installation of a 1 MW solar power plant is ₹4 to ₹5 Crores. Including all components, installation and commissioning,

Watts are used to measure the power of most electrical devices. So, we conclude that such equipment will create 1000 units of energy per hour at 100% efficiency, as 1 MW equals 1000 KW, and one Kw for one hour equals 1 kWh or 1 unit of electrical energy. So, one megawatt is equal to 1000 units.

Megawatt [MW] Kilowatt [KW]
1 MW 1000KW
2 MW 2000KW
3 MW 3000KW
4 MW 4000KW
5 MW 5000KW
1 MWp (1000 kWp) solar plant would require 3 months for installation and commissioning, and typically 45-50 days of actual work at the site.
Yes, wind load is considered. The wind load will depend upon the exact location. We Mas Solar should consider standards for the specific location. But solar power plants can be designed for Structure of any wind load.
1 MW plant will generate around 14 to 15 lac units in the first year. The exact power generated will be based on the location of the solar power plant.
Yes, the power produced will degrade at 0.5 -0.8 % each year. In the 25th year, the solar system will still produce 80-90% of the energy produced in the 1st year.
The solar panels have a warranty for a period of 25 years. However, the projected life is Longer.
Not Available & never applicable for Industrial Customers
For Modules:
  1. 12 years Warranty & 25 years performance Guarantee
  2. Inverter 5 years Warranty.
