Roles and Responsibilities :

The Mechanical Design Engineer in the solar energy sector is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components for solar power projects. This includes solar mounting structures, module layouts, thermal systems (if applicable), and integration with other mechanical infrastructure. The role ensures all designs are technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design Solar Components: Develop mechanical designs for solar panel mounting systems,
  tracking systems, inverters, and other supporting structures. Ensure designs are optimized
  for durability, cost-efficiency, and ease of installation.
• System Integration : Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration
  between mechanical systems and solar power systems, including wind, snow loads, and
  other environmental considerations.
• Prototyping & Testing : Build prototypes and conduct rigorous testing of mechanical
  systems, including wind resistance, load-bearing, and temperature variations. Validate
  designs to ensure performance and safety standards.
• Stress & Structural Analysis : Use advanced simulation tools (such as FEA) to perform stress
  and structural analysis on mechanical components and systems. Identify potential failure
  points and optimize designs for robustness.
• Material Selection : Select appropriate materials for solar energy systems based on cost,
  strength, weather resistance, and sustainability.
• Optimization for Manufacturing : Ensure mechanical designs are optimized for cost-effective
  and efficient manufacturing processes. Work with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure
  components meet design specifications.
• Documentation : Create detailed technical documentation, including CAD drawings, design
  specifications, and assembly instructions for manufacturing teams and clients.
• Compliance and Standards : Ensure that all designs meet relevant industry standards and
  regulations, including ISO, IEC (International Electro technical Commission), and local
  building codes for solar installations.
• Collaboration : Work alongside cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, project
  managers, and field installation teams to ensure smooth product development, testing, and
  deployment.
• Continuous Improvement : Analyze and suggest improvements to existing mechanical
  systems for increased efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
